The whole clue is an &lit cryptic definition. Proust's masterpiece À la recherche du temps perdu literally means 'in search of lost time' (hence Time-poor French author), but it's famously — and loosely — translated as 'Remembrance of Things Past', i.e. misinterpreted as nostalgic. The entire surface describes the answer in both senses at once.
